BEFORE YOU POST
Please familiarise yourselves with our Submission Rules before submitting. We are receiving a number of complaints that stories are being rejected when that could be avoided by simply reading the rules first. We don't like rejecting fics. We'd rather not. Please make life simpler for yourselves as well as our moderators by taking the time to read the rules before posting. And please don't forget to include a disclaimer in each story.
All submissions are screened by our validation team based on the "rules" set in place by our moderators. Authors are expected to correct any errors found during this process before their submission will be posted.
Also, please note that we are not a beta service. You must have your stories reviewed by a competent beta before you send them to us. Also note we have a page with writers tools available, one specifically for Brit picking. Check out the Writer's Tools (Links open in a new window).

Spam Reviews
If you get SPAM reviews and want them gone, simply go to your account panel and under the view reviews (or if you have new reviews, the view unanswered reviews) section and simply delete them.
Thanks to the generosity of our members, and the Harry Potter fandom, we have enough money to cover two complete years of hosting.
Once again I am humbled and awed by the generosity of this fandom. I have said it before and I will say it again: we could not do this without you. So from the bottom of my heart I thank you.
Many of you are receiving spam reviews. We are working on a fix that will allow you to delete your own reviews. Until then, I am sorry to say that I have to disable anonymous reviews in order to prevent the spam from getting through. Your patience is appreciated.
When submitting your story to The Hex Files, please use the copy-and-paste method instead of uploading the file. The upload function doesn't work. Thanks.

Update to submission rules
Can we please draw your attention to the following rule update in our submission guidance (see underlined text):
Authors who are not 'auto-validated' (if your stories are not posted right away, you aren't) may only submit ONE (1) chapter or story, of less than 10,000 words, at a time...
If you have a longer story it will need to be cut down into chapters of 10k words or less. If your chapter/fic is only just over 10k words, please contact a member of the moderating team to discuss BEFORE submission of the chapter. Many thanks.

Validation wait times
Please note, that due to a staff shortage, the validation process could take much longer than usual. Thank you for your patience. Your submissions will be seen to as soon as humanly possible.
We are working on a way to make the warnings and genres visible to you on the front page, but as of right now, we are not able to do that. However, if you simply click the link called Recently Added it will take you to a page that does display all appropriate warnings.
